Owner, Pink Poodle Dress Lounge
Raeshawn Bumphers is owner of the Pink Poodle Dress Lounge (PPDL). After providing bridal and hospitality services part-time for over 20 years, Bumphers realized her passion and launched a bridal salon and dress lounge. The Pink Poodle Dress Lounge is named after the Pink Poodle Lounge in Milwaukee owned by her great aunt Everlena McDowell and inspired by Bumphers grandmother and great aunts. The PPDL is a vintage themed modern showroom that will make its debut in Spring 2018 in Detroit’s Village area.
In addition to being a budding City of Detroit entrepreneur, Bumphers is also an automotive procurement professional. Bumphers has strong abilities in leadership, project management and strategic planning. She has also previously served as a Procurement Specialist for the Detroit Public Schools District, specifically working to remove the District from being listed as high risk from the State of Michigan.
Bumphers business acumen helped her create and implement a successful business plan that led to PPDL coming to fruition. Bumphers business plan is a recent recipient of Motor City Match Round 10. She was awarded $25,000 for PPDL.
Bumphers is a life long Detroiter, who decided to pursue her own dream of becoming an entrepreneur once her son, Wesley Jones, graduated from Carnegie Mellon. In addition to her aunt, Bumphers' son has also served as an inspiration to her encouraging to pursue her dream. Bumphers is passionate about and dedicated to empowering young girls and women. She is also well experienced in supreme hospitality service. Bumphers’ overall goal is to provide a space for women to shop and network, while mentoring young women in the community. Bumphers hopes to encourage young girls and women to follow their passion, believe in what they do and be good at it.
